I had this nightmare last night in which a huge blue Lobelia was knitting a silky web around herself. I know that web-spinning spiders have an innate ability to tell the difference between vibrations from insect prey from other sources -a leaf falling into the web for example- so I freaked out cause I didn’t want her to “feel” me, to notice my presence even if I wasn’t trapped in her silken tapestry, yet. I was hidden behind some sort of shrub, very scared, trying so hard to become invisible but mesmerized by her high-performance, knitting like a glorious 3D printer.
She already knew I was there. “Come out!” she said “I’m not the hunter. You are.”
This portrait is for you, Spider Lobelia, whatever you meant to say.
