The SUITS collection begins when I realize that I almost always work with photographs of women and I really want to start working with male photography. So I choose photos of models in suits to play with the shapes of the lapels, which is a part of clothing that I particularly love. I cut out part of the model’s clothes so that it seems torn, letting the background show, which is almost always based on posters that are pasted on the walls of cities (concerts, events, announcements …). One of the characteristics The hallmarks of this series is that I cut a full lapel from all the suits.
I also add items such as clippings from magazines or newspapers, graffiti, paint splatters, paint strokes, and always one or two hidden cartoon characters. I like to make the eye work and discover elements while observing the illustration more closely. The more you observe, the more things you discover, it is like a prize for the mind.
I also like the mixture of the formality of the suits with the informal and improvised of the graffiti, splatters, scribbles… etc.
The background and the elements that I introduce always have very vivid colors, to contrast a lot with the photos, which are all in black and white.
