Product Design<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span>| <\/span><\/strong>Durante il festival del Fuorisalone nella Galleria Spazio Rossana Orlandi abbiamo avuto l’opportunit\u00e0 di conoscere gli ultimi lavori del designer \u00c1lvaro Catal\u00e1n de Oc\u00f3n, uno dei designer piu nominati del design spagnolo e internazionale.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Born in Madrid, Catal\u00e1n de Oc\u00f3n decided to give his life a spin in the year 2000 and pursue his creative interests by studying at IED Mil\u00e1n and graduating from the Universidad Central Saints Martins en Londres. He hasn't stopped since, at first he chose Barcelona to open his own studio where he designs the LA FLACA lamp, winner of the Design Plus Award (Frankfurt). In 2009 he moved to the capital, where he also teaches at the European Institute of Design in Madrid. A year later, his participation in the Salone Satellite Milano gave him the opportunity to show his work in Italy and since then his new projects have been scheduled every year at Spazio Rossana Orlandi.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Spanish PET lamp project was conceived in 2011. In 2012 the Colombian experience was launched and a year later, in 2013, it reached new countries and cultures starting from Chile, next year from Ethiopia and again in Chile. in 2016. In 2015, PET Lamp was hosted by the artisans of Kyoto in Japan, as a test of the global potential of the project. The last trip was to Australia to develop a collaboration with the indigenous Ramingining weavers. The PET lamp began as an awareness project, strongly linked to the reuse of the PET bottle. Over time it has also developed as an anthropological study of the different indigenous weaving traditions, highlighting the role that traditional knowledge can play in local culture and emphasizing the preservation of knowledge and craftsmanship tradition.<\/span><\/p>\n

PET Lamp Pikul, is the version that was exhibited last April at Rosanna Orlandi's Galleria Spazio. It is the result of the work carried out by the studio over the last year in Thailand, as part of the global PET Lamp project. The PIKUL PET lamp is developed in collaboration with the traditional bamboo craft center, bamboo is the material of choice for this product. This material requires the skill and mastery of three craftsmen, each specialized in one of the production techniques necessary to make each lamp. The character of the Thai basketball tradition derives from the tranquility of the craftsman, which is reflected in extremely precise and balanced pieces.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
